Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Setup

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Even if someone gets your password, they cannot log in without your second factor.

Why Enable 2FA?

Your BillYantra account contains sensitive financial data — invoice history, customer details, bank information. Enabling 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

How to Enable 2FA

1. Go to your Profile page.
2. Scroll to Security → Two-Factor Authentication.
3. Click Enable 2FA.
4. You will be shown a QR code — scan it with an authenticator app:
   • Google Authenticator
   • Microsoft Authenticator
   • Authy
5. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your app to confirm setup.
6. Save your recovery codes — these are shown once. Store them safely in case you lose your phone.

Logging In With 2FA

After entering your email and password, you will be prompted for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Enter the current code to complete login.

Recovery Codes

If you lose access to your authenticator app:

1. Use one of your saved recovery codes on the 2FA prompt.
2. Recovery codes are single-use — each code works only once.
3. After using a recovery code, go to Profile → Security and generate new recovery codes.

Disabling 2FA

Go to Profile → Security → Two-Factor Authentication → Disable. You will need to enter your password to confirm.

Recommendation: For business accounts — especially on Pro and Business plans — enabling 2FA is strongly recommended. It protects invoicing data for your entire company.
