Products & Services — Building Your Item Catalog

Adding your products and services to BillYantra's catalog means you can create invoices in seconds — just search and select instead of typing everything each time.

How to Add a Product or Service

1. Go to Inventory → Products & Services in the sidebar.
2. Click + Add Product.
3. Fill in:

Basic Details

• Name — What appears on your invoice (e.g. "Web Development Services", "SSL Certificate")
• Type — Product (goods) or Service
• Description — Optional description shown on invoice line item

Tax Details

• HSN Code (for goods) or SAC Code (for services) — Use the ✨ AI Suggest button for help.
• GST Rate — 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%
• Unit — Nos, Kg, Hours, Months, GB, etc.

Pricing

• Default Rate — Your standard selling price (excluding GST). Can be overridden per invoice.
• Purchase Price — Your cost price (used for margin calculation).

AI HSN/SAC Suggestion

Click the ✨ button next to the HSN/SAC field and describe your product. The AI will suggest the correct code with the applicable GST rate.

Categories

Organize products into categories (e.g. "Software", "Hardware", "Services", "Domains") for easy filtering when creating invoices.

Bulk Import

Have a large catalog? Import from Excel using Products → Import. Download the template, fill it in, and upload.

Using Products in Invoices

When creating an invoice, start typing in the item name field. BillYantra auto-searches your product catalog — select the product and all details (HSN, rate, GST) fill in automatically.

Tip: Add all your standard service packages as products so invoicing takes under 30 seconds.
